Check out the resurrected Epstein's Customer Hall of Fame. It's been a while since we've accepted new members but maybe it's time we opened the books. (Note: If you'd like to send in an application please be sure to include an appropriate bribe.)
The official HJE ball cap. Made right here in Kansas City by Sandlot out of navy melton wool. Green underbill. Adjustable snap back. These hats are 100% USA made.
We're often asked for recommendations on a wide variety of KC related things so we thought we'd put a list together of other KC companies we like and recommend on a regular basis. I'm sure it will grow but this is a start.
Leave it to the Germans to make ordinary pliers sexy to look at. Used these the first day and not only are they exceptional quality but also bring a smile to see in my tool belt. I did notice on the bottom of the pliers, below the hot rivet, two rough cast marks. Maybe normal? Not a criticism on my part; observation only. Buy them :)
I’ve carried small tapes around with me for your 30 years and this is the best one by far. The measures accurately retract well isn’t too terribly bulky and his ideal for working sales. Bravo.
So I bought one of these with the sledge eye last year when at the time no axe eye option was available. That handle only lasted a few splitting sessions. I look forward to trying this one with the axe eye. The maul heads are well-finished and split wood with ease. The manufacturer stamps are nice and clear, too, if you care about that sort of thing.
I had bought a set of Wera detachable VDE screwdriver blades. They are very convenient because the blades are slimmer than a 1/4 in bitholder. So now this handle turns them into a ratchet. This is the slimmest blade ratcheting screwdriver I have now, so it can do things that I couldn't do before. I also like that the handle is bigger, so it fits my hands better. Ratcheting / reversing / locking the mechanism is very smooth, and now they make a 1/4 in socket adapter for these blades too. Very convenient.
I love the design of Estwing hammers. What could be tougher than a solid piece of stainless steel for the head and handle? At 3lbs, this is great for when you need to pound something into the ground, or break up rock / concrete with a pointed chisel, or for when you can't move a board with just your framing hammer. I think the balance makes it easier to keep the head on target.
